Contrado is a London-based company founded in 2002. Known for its on-demand, custom product services, Contrado enables creators to sell unique, high-quality products. Specialising in printing fabric for fashion and homewares, Contrado has expanded to a wide range of print on demand options, including custom artwork and picture frames. With a global network of 40 websites across 14 territories, Contrado delivers personalised products to customers worldwide.

The challenge

Contrado required a custom framing solution to support their print on demand service for their merchants. The frames, which are sold alongside a variety of artworks and prints to customers around the world, needed to be cost-effective, scalable and of a high quality. They also had to be available in standard sizes and in black and white finishes only, with no glass or backing board, as they are used for various types of artwork and canvases. The demand for the frames is variable, so a supplier able to manage orders from small batches of 10 frames up to larger orders of 200 was crucial.

The solution 

Since 2019, Readymades has been supplying Contrado with a range of black and white box frames in a selection of standard sizes. The picture frames are used by Contrado’s print on demand sellers to enhance and sell their artwork. With no preset ordering schedule, Contrado places orders as needed, allowing flexibility in quantity and size. Deliveries are made to their London-based warehouse, ensuring a streamlined process for their team.

After a brief pause in orders, Contrado returned to Readymades in June 2023, reinforcing our strong partnership and proving that Readymades’ frames remain integral to Contrado’s offerings.

The results 

Readymades’ frames are now a staple of Contrado’s custom product line, offering print on demand merchants an easy and high-quality framing option for their customers.
